SAPIENS, an online magazine devoted to the coverage of all things anthropology, launched in January 2016. The magazine was founded with a mission of making anthropology accessible and relevant to a general-interest audience. It is an editorially independent publication sponsored by the Wenner-Gren Foundation. SAPIENS publishes news, features, essays, blogs, reviews, and more across all fields of anthropology—biological/physical, linguistic, and socio-cultural anthropology, as well as archaeology.
Our goal is to bring anthropological research and insights to bear on everyday discussions about current affairs, culture, politics, technology, the environment, and more. As the managing editor, I am responsible for editing news and features as well as overseeing the online magazine’s overall editorial flow and day-to-day activities.
